To measure your bra size, you only need a tape measure and follow these 3 easy steps below.

Step 1: Measure your band size: Stand up straight while wearing a non-padded bra. Your breasts should be as natural as possible. Wrap the measuring tape around your rib cage directly under your breasts making sure it’s level and parallel to the floor. Take the measurements in inches.

Step 2: Measure your bust size: Take a loose measurement of the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level around your body. Breathe in and out ensuring the tape is not tight.

Step 3: To get your cup size: Subtract your band size from your bust size. The difference is your cup size. Each inch difference represents a size. 0=AA; 1=A; 2=B; 3=C; 4=D; 5=DD; 6=F; 7=FF; 8=G; 9=GG; 10=H; 11=HH; 12=J; 13=JJ; 14=K and so on.

To make sure we are on the same page here is an example;

If your band size is 34 and your bust size is 36, the difference is 2 inches which means you have a B Cup. Your bra size is your band size with your cup size, which in this case would be 34B.

This is your model measurement while shopping but remember there are other factors we still need to consider such as the bra style.

Some of these must-know things to consider include:

There is a reason Strapless bras exist

Bra cups hold the breast but 90% of the support comes from the band 🤯. This is why it’s possible to wear strapless bras. If your band and cup both fit well you should be able to slip off your straps and walk comfortably. However, if your straps feel too tight, your band is either too small or too big. They should both be snug.

Your band should be level and parallel to the ground, it should not be hitching up or curved, if it is, that means it’s not giving you the support you need. This Zuri intimate underwire bra is a perfect mix of comfort and luxury having contour satin cups with a beautiful lace edge neckline for that elegant look and feel. Its backs are lined with power mesh for extra support and breathability.

Play with Sizes

Bras will fit differently from brand to brand, even from style to style. Allow yourself to play around with sizes to find the perfect fit.

The rule of thumb is that if you go up in the band, you step down in the cup and vice versa. This means if you are a 32C you might find a better fit in a 34B or a 30D.

Consider the Center Gore

One of the best ways to know if you are wearing the right bra is that the center part of the bra (center gore ) should lie flat between your breasts. This helps to hold the bra in place.  If the center gore keeps moving you will need to keep adjusting your bra. The only exception to this is a wire-free bra which will not have a gore that anchors the bra. This Zuri underwire bra has a gore to anchor your breasts in place and offer full support.
